Day 9 - Waking up in Forte dei Marmi
Forte dei marmi is a beach front town on the Italian Riviera in the province of lucca. There are lots of designer stores, lots of bikes (that's how everyone gets around) ,lots of Russians (barely an American) and lots of beach clubs. The town is lush and luxurious. We are staying at the Grand Hotel Imperiali.
Our first day was very chill and just what the doctor ordered. It was so hot, so we happily stayed under our shaded area at our hotel's beach club, Minerva. We read, swam and Erin and I played backgammon. When you book at a beach club it includes a little changing room with a terrace....so cute.

Every beach club has a restaurant and we decided to try one a few doors down. Because we're nobodies they seated us in the back of the restaurant. Don't you know halfway through our meal 10 men, dressed in suits, arrive through the back door and the whole restaurant starts buzzing! We quickly figure out that 2 of the men are body guards. People from other tables start shaking hands with the "main man". The main man and his right hand man sit at the table RIGHT next us and the entourage sits at another table next to them. To make matters more frustrating ( since I have no clue who this famous person is) a SKY camera crew arrives and proceeds to conduct a full on TV interview at their table. At this point I have completely turned my chair around and politely wait till the interview is finished before I start "Maxining". Because the bodyguards are scary I ask the "right hand man" and not the "main man". "May I ask what the interview was about?" to which he replied "football". The guy was the President of the Genoa soccer team, Enricio Preziosi, a huge celeb in Italy! A little disappointing but at least my curiosity was hushed.
For dinner we went to il fortino....another great meal!
