Day 10 - Cinque Terra

We decided to take the train to Monterosso al Mare, the last of the 5 towns in Cinque Terra, and work our way back. We were so lucky because it was the first cloudy day since we arrived in Italy, so it wasn't so hot. Each town is out of a movie set. Each pastel coloured village is built into a cliff, only accessible by train, ferry or hiking path. The pictures speak for themselves. You can hike from town to town but we decided to take the train to Vernazza the ferry to Manorola and then we walked on the path to Riomaggiore. we skipped Corniglia since it would have entailed climbing 400 steps. Nobody was up for that!

When we got off the boat in Manorola we were all mesmerized by a small boy standing on the top of a high cliff ready to jump into the sea...unfortunately I wasn't quick enough on the video camera.

Particularly heartwarming was when Ryan proclaimed at dinner... "today was a waste of a day." Oh well, you can't win them all!
